In addition to the Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy and Energy System Technology (IWES), the Bremerhaven University of Applied Sciences, the Technology Transfer Centre of Bremerhaven (ttz) with the adjoining sensory lab, the Centre for Aquaculture Research, IMARE as well as companies in the Biotechnology Centre (BioNord) are available at your disposal for active know-how transfer. From 2017 onwards, the von Thünen Institute of Fisheries Ecology and Sea Fishing will be based in the fishery harbour of Bremerhaven. The research ship Walter Herwig III of the Institute is already a regular guest in the fishery harbour. At the research and development mile (R&D), in close proximity to the Alfred Wegener Institute for Polar and Marine Research (AWI), there is another quay for research ships.
