From prawn shelling to a hard life on the ocean waves
Things you can’t afford to miss
Are you a fan of freshly-caught North Sea prawns? Just next to Schaufenster Fischereihafen is the Kutter Steinbock. In the company’s petite sales hut on the harbour basin, you can find delicious seafoods guaranteed to be fresh, for you to peel yourself – or “pulen”, as we say in Bremerhaven.
Also in the harbour basin is the last remaining German side trawler Gera, which today belongs to the Bremerhaven History Museum. Conditions on board would have been harsh. Follow in the footsteps of Captain Hein, who’ll take you aboard on a journey into the history of fishing.
There are some things that simply can’t be – or can they? The exhibition Phänomenta will astound you. Located in a former spice hall, you can expect fascinating exhibits of phenomena both from the natural world and technology.

A theatre with improv such as this is not to be missed
The TiF – Theater im Fischereihafen – also called the Fischbahnhof its home. With 130 shows per year and more than 20,000 visitors, the TiF is a popular draw at the Schaufenster Fischereihafen. Whether classical concerts or experimental plays, dance theatre or underwater marionette drama, magic or improv, you can always rely on the TiF to spring a surprise.
