To the North Sea and back

A home port for explorers and connoisseurs

Bremerhaven’s Fischereihafen (fishing harbour) was founded in 1896. Even today, it is among the largest such harbours in continental Europe, and remains one of the most important fish processing sites in Europe. For our guests, this means you’ll be up close and personal – and for us, transparency and handiwork are absolutely vital! And that’s not just when you visit the Schaufenster Fischereihafen cultural centre, as a little further down at the Fischkai you can watch master filleters at work, or enjoy a freshly-prepared salad straight from the kitchen. The large shop windows on Am Lunedeich afford tourists an insight into the production of deep-frozen delicacies at FRoSTA.

Yet the fishing harbour has long been more than simply a destination for seafood connoisseurs. Festivals and markets attract visitors from across northern Germany, while exhibitions offer tourists the chance to learn and get stuck in, to leave the everyday behind and explore the high seas or the fascinating world of the North Sea.
Discover a world of surprises in the new diversity of the old fishing harbour – why not stay for the whole weekend!
